We headed out to Middendorf's this morning with a stop at Frenier, so Timmy could see the beautiful view of Lake Pontchartrain. When we got to Middendorf's Barbara was there to join us for part of our daytrippin'. Timmy really liked his thin fried catfish. We also had some homemade ice cream. Choices were chocolate, peach, strawberry and pumpkin. I had the chocolate with whipped cream, which I adore. Then went to the Joyce Wildlife Management area where we took a few pictures of the swamp foliage. Next it's off to do some antique shopping and to hit Berrytown to replenish my berry supply. Finally, we hit a few more stops on old 51 to enjoy the scenery. It was a lovely day, sunny and cool.

From Chackbay to Convent
Well the weather did not allow us to go to the Chackbay gumbo fest. They were towing cars out of the mud when we got there. So, we turned around and headed back toward Vacherie then across the river to lunch at Hymel's with a few stops along the way. The newest member of the daytrip team, Nanette, was treated to her first Slush Puppie. She didn't like it at first but said it grew on her. We visited St. Michael's church on River Road to show her the grotto. It was a nice day even though we got a little wet. It only sprinkled thankfully.

Lockport/Larose dayride
Took a ride out to meet a friend from my forum (http://www.ladayrides.com/). We ate at a place called Blackie's poboys. It was a good day but hot, as most days here are.

Orange dog caterpillars
This is new. We planted an orange tree a few months ago. I have seven oranges on it right now! Well, there's a new resident - actually about 8 have been found so far. They are these caterpillars. They eat the leaves and can severely damage a young tree. The thing is they turn into swallowtail butterflies. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on this.

Ponchatoula kinda Sunday
My partner in crime and I decided to check out a cemetery we had never seen, if you can believe that, in Ponchatoula. It was absolutely beautiful. It's called Mitchell cemetery. After wandering around there we had lunch at Paul's Cafe. It's always good... well almost. The roast beef could be better but everything else is good. Next we proceeded to make our way over to Berrytown for some creole tomatoes. I'll be sad when the tomatoes are gone.
